 | Servant of the Glory, The The Life of 'Abdu'l-Bahá by Mary Perkins Soft Cover ISBN: 978-0-85398-431-3 |
Description: The last in the trilogy of biographies of the Central Figures of the Bahá'í Faith.
Here is a clear, straightforward and easily readable account of the remarkable life of 'Abdu'l-Bahá, the son of Bahá'u'lláh, founder of the Bahá'í Faith. A companion to Hour of the Dawn and Day of Glory, Servant of the Glory continues the story of the establishment and growth of the Faith of Bahá'u'lláh as it spread across Europe and North America.
We see 'Abdu'l-Bahá from His earliest days in Persia, during the terrible persecutions of the Bábís, and follow Bahá'u'lláh and His family on their exiles across the Middle East to 'Akká. We learn how 'Abdu'l-Bahá protected His father while in the prison city and took on His shoulders the great responsibilities of the Cause after His father's passing. The building of the Shrine of the Báb, the first pilgrimages of Western believers to the Holy Land, the emancipation of 'Abdu'l-Bahá and His journeys to the West are among the many events described in this compelling story of one known as the 'Mystery of God', the 'Perfect Exemplar' and the 'Centre of the Covenant'.
Mary Perkins was born and brought up in Wales. She took a university degree in history and afterwards worked in many African countries. She is the author of several books for young people, for whom she has a particular interest in writing.
